Jordan Spieth Seeking To Become Fifth Youngest Two-Time Tour Winner Since 1900.

Twenty-year old Jordan Spieth this week could become the fifth youngest two-time winner on the PGA Tour since 1932.

Spieth heads into the third round of the $US 10m Players Championship trailing one shot behind Germany’s Martin Kaymer after rounds of 67 and 66 for an impressive 11 under par tally, and also not one bogey in his first appearance in the PGA Tour’s flagship event.

Ralph Guldahl was aged 20 years, two months and 9 days when he won the 1932 Arizona Open to his 1931 Santa Monica Open triumph when he was aged 19 years, two months and 4 days.

Jordan Spieth just one off the lead in his first Players Championship showing.

The late great Gene Sarazen was aged 20 years, 4 months and 18 days when he captured the 1922 US Open and earlier that year winning the Southern Open at age 20 years and 5 days.

Horton Smith won twice in 1928 including the Catalina Open at age 20 years, seven months and 1 day old while Tom Creavy won the 1931 PGA Championship at age 20 years, 7 months and 16 days old, and just less than two months following victory in the 1931 Northeastern New York event.

If Spieth were to win here at TPC Sawgrass he will be aged 20 years, 9 months and 14 days old while he was aged 19 years, 11 months and 18 days in capturing last year’s John Deere Classic.

After 36 holes Spieth is the only player this week not to drop a shot.

As well, Spieth has remained bogey-free since the third hole in the final round of the RBC Heritage and a week after securing a share of second on his debut in the Masters.
