Nicklaus Outdrives Player By Feet At 2014 Masters Ceremonial Tee Off – Video.

Golden Bear Jack Nicklaus managed to outdrive South African Gary Player by a matter of a few feet at this morning’s ceremonial tee off to kick-start the 2014 Masters.

Arnold Palmer, 84 got the Masters underway hitting off first and then followed by Player, 78 and with Nicklaus, 74 last to tee off.

Between them the trio boast 13 green jackets.

The tradition of honorary starters at the Masters dates to 1963. The three former champions, who combined to win 13 Masters titles, struck their tee shots at the par-4 opening hole with Nicklaus knocking his ball just past the one hit by Player.

Nicklaus, Palmer and Player teed off at 7.30am while a few minutes later Open champ Stewart Cink and South African Tim Clark officially began the tournament soon after.
