Trevor Immelman Says Masters Will Miss Tiger Woods Mystique & Fanfare.

Fellow Masters Champion Trevor Immelman says the withdrawal of Tiger Woods through injury will rob this year’s Masters of its mystique and fanfare.

Immelman became the second South African to win at Augusta National in capturing the 2008 Masters shooting a final round 75 to win by three shots from Woods.

And while Immelman has struggled to again reach those dizzy heights the 34-year old says the 2014 Masters won’t be the same without the 14-time Major winning Woods.

Fellow Masters champion Trevor Immelman says Woods withdrawal will rob Augusta of his mystique and fanfare.

Fellow Masters champion Trevor Immelman says Woods withdrawal will rob Augusta of his mystique and fanfare.

“Tiger’s health is the most important thing and it’s going to be sad to see him at Augusta as he has greatly added to the mystique and fanfare of the Masters,” said the South African.

“He’s won at Augusta four times and he was probably going to be the favourite going in and so it’s unfortunate and it’s definitely going to be different this year without him.”

And former World No. 1 Luke Donald shared the disappointment of Masters fans Woods will not be seen at Augusta for a first time since 1995.

“It is disappointing for the fans and the game of golf because Tiger is a big part of what we play for and he’s obviously he main attraction when it comes to golf tournaments,” said Donald.

“He brings in the crowds and the fans and it is not a stronger game without him.

“So we all wish him a speedy recovery because no one out here likes getting injured but then  we are fortunate in this game we get to play for a number of years, and while we always try to avoid injury, we all hope he gets back out here healthy and soon.”
