Emirates 2014 Australian Open To Fly High At The Australian Club In Sydney.

The date for the 2014 Emirates Australian Open has been confirmed to be staged from 27-30 November at The Australian Golf Club in Sydney.

It will the first time the Jack Nicklaus redesigned course has hosted an Australian Open since 2007 when Craig Parry lifted the Stonehaven Cup, and with the championship to be the penultimate event on the 2014 PGA Tour of Australasia schedule.

A new-look Australian Golf Club was unveiled last year following Nicklaus’ extensive re-design of one Australia’s oldest courses.

Golf Australia CEO Stephen Pitt said the organisation was excited about returning to the course which hosted the first Australian Open in 1904.

“There is such a strong historical link to the Emirates Australian Open at The Australian Golf Club,” Pitt said.

“Jack Nicklaus won three of his six Australian Open titles at The Australian and the list of Open champions at this venue includes Greg Norman, David Graham, Kel Nagle, Bob Shearer, Peter Lonard and most recently Craig Parry. We’re looking forward to huge week of golf in Sydney where even more history will be made.”

The Australian Masters (held from 20-23 November) will precede the Open with the Australian PGA Championship following from 11-14 December

The PGA Tour of Australasia will also stage the Isuzu Queensland Open (28-31 Aug), South Pacific Open Championship (10-13 Sept), John Hughes Nexus Risk Services WA Open (16-19 Oct), WA Goldfields PGA Championship (30 Oct -2 Nov) and the NSW Open (13-16 Nov).

All tournaments on the PGA Tour of Australasia offer Official World Golf Rankings points and in addition Professionals in 2014 will be competing for more than AU$8.4million in prizemoney.
