Steven Bowditch .. “I Can’t Believe ‘Sendo’ Brought Up I Caddied For Him When I Was 10!”

New Valero Texas Open winner Steven Bowditch was left gob-smacked when fellow PGA Tour winner John Senden brought up the fact he once caddied for the Brisbane golfer.

“You’ve come a long way since caddying for me at Twin Waters,” said Senden smiling widely and who was the first Australian-born golfer to congratulate Bowditch.

Senden, who had changed into jeans and a 2012 Masters t-shirt, had been all prepared with the comment as he watched Bowditch come up the final hole on the appropriately designed Greg Norman designed course at TPC San Antonio.

In fact, Bowditch later commented he could not believe brought up the fact that as a 10-year old he caddied for Senden in the annual Jack Newton Celebrity Classic at the Twin Waters Club in Queensland.

“I just can’t believe Sendo made that comment and how could he have remembered,” said Bowditch laughing.

“Yes, I caddied for Sendo and I must have been either 10, 11 or 12, and I can’t believe he told you (Bernie) that he remembered.

“But it was just great to see Sendo, Badds and Scotty Gardiner there waiting for me when I came off the green.

Bowditch, whose fight with depression has been well documented and has purposely not been touched on by www.golfbytourmiss.com was asked in private after the formal part of his victory conference whether he ever doubted he could not win on the PGA Tour.

“To be honest, no I never doubted I could not win out here because I always had it in the back of my mind my age range for winning was going to be about from 30 years of age to about 35.

“So I hadn’t doubted myself not for a minute this day would not happen.”
