Tiger Woods Pleased To Go India, Delighted Lindsey Vonn Not Going To Sochi.

Tiger Woods confirmed he will travel next Tuesday to India for a first time ever in his career.

The 14-time Major Champion has been invited by Mr. Pawan Munjal, CEO and Managing Director of the Hero Motor Group, and one of the largest motor cycle manufacturers to play golf in the capital, Delhi.

Woods and Munjal will play an expected 18-hole match as part of a corporate day on the Delhi Golf Club and a club that has hosted more than 25 Indian Opens.

“I’m looking forward to going to India,” said Woods after shooting a round of 73 on day two of the Dubai Desert Classic.

“Finally going for me first time.”

Woods’ visit is not expected to last more than a few hours. Nevertheless, preparations are on in full swing at the Dehli Golf Club.  Grandstands are being erected next to the 1st tee and the 18th green; a marquee area is also being constructed on the lawns to welcome the star golfer.

However it is also believed Woods will be paid in the vicinity of $US1.2m to visit the world’s most populated democratic nation.

Munjal is no stranger to Woods and is a regular visitor to the Tavistock Cup that alternates each year between the Isleworth Club or Lake Nona in Orlando, Florida.

And it is where Munjal first met Woods.

One of the residents at the exclusive Isleworth Estate, and also a good friend of Woods, is Indian golfer Arjun Atwal a winner of the Indian Open.

And Woods also expressed his delight injured girlfriend Lindsey Vonn is not competing in the 2014 Winter Olympics and thereby now avoiding any security concerns in Sochi.

“I’m relieved she’s not competing because of her knee,” said Woods.

“It was very unstable.  As she alluded to, it was unstable just walking, so going 80 miles an hour and have a hard turn, I don’t think that’s really the wisest thing to do.”
