“To win the green jacket is a tremendous achievement and we’re all very proud of him.”

Scott became the first Australian in the 77-year history of the Masters to be fitted with the famed Augusta National green jacket when he defeated former Masters winner Angel Cabrera  in a sudden death playoff in Augusta, Georgia, in April this year.

Mayor Tate said it was a privilege to be hosting the prestigious Australian PGA Championship as the city counted down toward the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

“An event of this calibre certainly consolidates our global reputation as a sports and events capital,” he said.
