Tiger Looking To Turn Tables On Rory In ‘The Match At Mission Hills’ On Hainan Island.

Tiger Woods will be looking to turn the tables on rival Rory McIlroy when the pair tee-up tomorrow (Monday) in ‘The Match at Mission Hills’.

Woods and McIlroy will take to the Blackstone Course and venue for the 2011 World Cup of Golf won by Woods’ management stablemates, Gary Woodland and Matt Kuchar.

The par-73 Blackstone course is laid out in a spectacular black volcanic lava rock at Mission Hills Haikou Resort on China’s southernmost island.

Last year, McIlroy edged Woods at Jinsha Lake by a stroke. Both players were impressive and the Northern Irishman’s 18-hole score of 67 was just enough to defeat Woods, who carded a 68.

However McIlroy has the benefit having teamed with Graeme McDowell in 2011 and go within just a few shots of victory after leading into the final round.

Both players will arrive later tonight  and will tee-up without the benefit of any practice round.

Having won five tournaments in 2013, Woods would seem to have momentum on his side and in a season when he was again named ‘PGA Tour Player of the Year’.

McIlroy is still winless in 2013  but said:  “Tiger has played the better golf this year, but I feel like I’m getting my game back again and I enjoy any challenge, especially against Tiger, so I’m ready for another showdown.”

Woods is also looking forward to the rematch, saying, “I’m hoping to win this time. We both played well last year, but Rory got me by one. I’ve had a really good year on the PGA Tour, so it would be nice to earn another trophy in China.”

He added, “We had a lot of fun last year and I’m expecting the same again this time in Hainan.”
