Peter Lawrie’s Perth International SOS For Super Caddy John ‘Ronnie’ Roberts.

Ireland’s Peter Lawrie has been reunited with super caddy John ‘Ronnie‘ Roberts for this week’s Perth International in Australia.

Ronnie is the full-time caddy to Australian Brett Rumford and with winning back-to-back European Tour titles earlier this year.

However Rumford is at home this week in Perth and capital of Western Australia and has promised his brother the opportunity to caddy for him at Lake Karrinyup Golf Club course.

Ronnie was going to caddy for former Portuguese Masters champion Steve Webster but when the Englishman withdrew from the event, Ronnie made his services available to Lawrie.

Lawrie is making the near 20,000 mile round trip from Dublin to Australia and desperate to hold onto his European Tour card in what is the final regular Tour event on the 2013 Race to Dubai schedule.

However after missing the cut in his last six events the 114th Race to Dubai ranked Lawrie must make the Perth cut if he’s to have any chance to move inside the top-110 that will retain automatic 2014 Tour membership.

Lawrie has been on Tour for a decade never once before staring at the scenario he is this week on the European Tour.

Ronnie is no stranger to Lawrie’s game having caddied for him in a number of events in 2006 including the BMW Asian Open and UBS Hong Kong Open. He then caddied again for Lawrie at the 2008 BMW PGA Championship.

The  duo were in contact with each other while Lawrie contested last week’s Portugal Masters and Ronnie indicated he was looking forward to the challenge.

“Pete and I have always remained good friends and I’m looking forward to helping him in what is going to a very important week,” said Ronnie.

“I have records of Pete’s club and distance figures and knowing the course as well as I do, I’m quietly confident we can get the job done.”

Lawrie will play the opening two rounds in the company of Australians Andre Stolz and James Nitties.
