Sergio Garcia Relieved On Any Fine Or Suspension Over Woods Racist Remark

Sergio Garcia has been relieved of any fine and/or suspension of his racist comments directed at Tiger Woods.

Garcia met both with European Tour CEO, George O’Grady and PGA Tour Commissioner, Tim Finchem earlier today (WED) within the offices of the European Tour headquarters at the Wentworth Club in Surrey.

The Spaniard later attended a press conference where he issued an unreserved apology to Woods for his ‘fried chicken’ comment mentioned during Tuesday night’s European Tour ‘Players Award’ dinner at a London hotel.

And while Garcia is looking now to meet with Woods and apologise personally both the European Tour and PGA Tour today issued a statement relieving the 33-year old Garcia and any disciplinary action.

“Together with Commissioner Tim Finchem of the PGA Tour, who attended the Players’ Awards Dinner with me last night, we spoke to Sergio Garcia at the conclusion of his Pro-Am round,” said O’Grady in a statement issued by the European Tour.

“Sergio expressed very deep and sincere regret for his unguarded and, in his own words, “stupid” remark and we are also aware of his statement of apology issued at 12.25am this morning.

“Following our meeting, we have accepted his full apology and we consider the matter closed. We are now looking forward to our flagship event, starting tomorrow morning.”
