The Australian Golf Writers Association (AGWA) annual dinner was held in Sydney last Saturday night with the highlight of the evening being the award of Life Membership to George Begg.

George has been a tireless worker for the Association and it was rightfully pointed out at the dinner that had it not been George the AGWA may very well have founded.

It was a special night for George with his wife, Sue along with daughters Nicole and Jenny plus their respective husbands David and Tom all making the trip north from Melbourne for the annual dinner held in the clubhouse at The Lakes Golf Club.

George is just among five members of the AGWA to be afforded Life Membership of the Association.

Also Australia’s great Robert Allenby was also honoured at the dinner for his work with ‘Challenge’ Cancer with Allenby warmly congratulated for helping raise $20m in the 21-years the charitable body has been assisting those affected by cancer.
