Adam Scott – Two Mental Errors Cost Him Victory In The Open.

Todd Stofka of Philly Hypnosis Golf Performance is a good supporter of www.golfbytourmiss.com and he’s contacted us saying that two mental struggles cost Adam Scott victory and enabled Ernie Els to be presented with a second Claret Jug.

Thanks to Todd we have published his comments hereunder:-

Todd Stofka of Philly Hypnosis Golf Performance Psychology congratulates Ernie Els for winning the British Open. http://www.thebestweigh tlosssolution.com/sports-psychology-golf/.

“I feel for golfer Adam Scott, who had a lead only to have victory slip away. It was a battle of winning golf’s mental game that made for an exciting finish to the British Open.”

When it comes to golfing, Golf Performance Psychology is the winning edge.

Two Mental Struggles you can overcome to play better golf or any sport:

1. Coasting or relaxing when there is a lead.

Adam Scott had a four shot lead evaporate on the final nine of The Open.

When we teach athletes and golfers to play “in the zone,” we are teaching their unconscious mind to focus and to be goal oriented. When athletes, teams or golfers relax with a lead or when ahead, that focus can evaporate along with their peak performance play. Once that focus/shift occurs in the mental game, commonly the athlete reverts back to trying to “not” make mistakes, which is what cost Adam to bogey the last four holes at Royal Lytham and St. Annes.

2. “Winning Golf” is always played in the moment — one shot at a time.

If you look at Scott’s last few holes – he three-putted the 15th for bogey, lipped out on the 16th for bogey, hooked his approach left at the 17th and failed to hole out from 25 feet.

On the final hole, Scott landed in a deep bunker off the tee and could only move his ball a few yards forward before finding the green and missing a five foot putt for par that would have sent the 141st Open into a play-off.

What gave Els the victory was that he played, one shot at a time. He moved the ball forward to be consistent.

We teach golfers the key to this part of the mental game is managing mistakes. Being able to forget what just happened and only play forward.

At Philly Hypnosis Sports Performance we help golfers like Tiger Woods and other athletes win the mental game of their sport to succeed by creating core confidence, the ability to release mistakes, focusing on the correct thought for the moment and a winning belief inside to produce “in the zone” results. We have helped hundreds of athletes jack up their game using Sports Hypnosis and Neuro Linguistic Psychology.
