Javier Ballesteros To Honour One Year Anniversary Of His Father’s Passing By Accepting Majorca Open Invitation.

Javier Ballesteros will honour the memory of his father by making his European Tour debut at next year’s Majorca Open and on the one year anniversary of Seve’s death

Ballesteros, 21 who will remain an amateur until after his completes a law degree, will be afforded an invitation to contest the May 10th, 2012 commencing event at Pula.

Javie Ballesteros - the spitting image of his legendary father.

In recent weeks, Ballesteros, who plays off a handicap of one, has been competing in Pro-Am’s ahead of two Racve to Dubai events including partnering World No. 1 Luke Donald in recent Madrid Masters.

He then teamed with defending Castellon Masters champion, Matteo Manassero in this week’s Pro-Am ahead of the Sergio Garcia hosted event.

“It is great to receive an invitation to play next year’s Majorca Open and it will be the first time I have played on the European Tour,” he said.

“But I will not be turning professional until after I finish my law degree so hopefully if there any other amateurs playing in the Majorca Open, I can be the leading amateur.”

Donald won the Madrid Pro-Am and was great impressed by the young Ballesteros.

“It almost felt like I was playing with Seve in a way because looks like he has a real flair for the game just like his old man,” said Donald.

Seve Ballesteros was 17 years old when he made his professional debut in 1974 and shortly thereafter captured the Campenato Nacional Para Under-25 championship at Sotogrande.

While the 2012 Majorca Open or Iberdrola Open as it was called this year has not been confirmed by the European Tour, organisers of the Castellon Masters, who also arrange the Majorca Open indicated the event will take place at the Pula Golf Club from May 10th to 13th, 2012.
