Woods To Play Alongside ‘Paddy’ & Davis In PGA Championship

Padraig Harrington will be assured interest spectator interest after being drawn with Tiger Woods for the opening two round of next week’s season-ending Major in Atlanta, the U.S. PGA Championship.

Joining Harrington and Woods is fellow former PGA winner and 2012 U.S. Ryder Cup captain, Davis Love 111.

The last occasion Harrington went head-to-head in a Major was over the first two rounds of 2009 U.S. PGA Championship at Hazeltine.

Woods, a four-time former PGA champion, finished runner-up that year to Korean Y E Yang while Harrington shared 10th place.

And when the PGA Championship was last played on the Atlanta Country Club course in 2001 Harrington missed the cut with scores of 75 and 74 while Woods was placed 29th behind compatriot David Toms.

As is customary, PGA of America officials have grouped the three Major winners from this year, Charl Schwartzel, Rory McIlroy and Darren Clarke, together for the first two rounds.

World No. 1 Luke Donald has been drawn to tee-up in the company of Spain’s Alvaro Quiros and American Nick Watney, who’s currently No. 1 on the U.S. money list.

Lee Westwood, currently the World No. 2, will play with Ryder Cup rival Matt Kuchar and in-form Aussie Jason Day, who is well on target to capture this week’s WGC – Bridgestone Invitational.

Former U.S. Open winner Graeme McDowell finds himself playing alongside fellow Major Champions Zach Johnson and Australia’s 2006 U.S. Open winning, Geoff Ogilvy.
