Rory McIlroy Losing Out To Wozniacki In Popularity Stakes.

Rory McIlroy is losing out in the popularity stakes when it comes to new girlfriend, Caroline Wozniacki.

McIlroy rushed to Wozniacki’s side straight after finishing well down the field in the PGA Championship at Atlanta.

He was seen courtside as the World No. 1 ranked Wozniacki practiced ahead of last week’s  Western and Southern Open in Cincinnati, and McIlroy’s expected to be back in the States this week to cheer her on in Connecticut.

The Danish tennis ace is defending her New Haven Open title, and in the traditional last ATP event ahead of the U. S. Open in New York.

Wozniacki enjoys a 14-0 record in winning the last three New Haven titles.

But for the past years, Wozniacki has been guest of honour at Yale University where she’s delivered a pep talk to the university’s American football side.

Dozens of team members were present for her matches last year and cheering on the Dane by singing Neil Diamond’s famous song, ‘Sweet Caroline’.

Caroline Wozniacki meets the Yale football team after her victory last year over Dominika Cibulkova. The team cheered for her singing 'Sweet Caroline'.

And Wozniacki’s again been invited to attend the famed university next week to address the testosterone-charged footballers.

“It’s great as I never complain having 100 guys standing around me, so it’s definitely good fun,” she said.

And in speaking to the team last year, there’s much similarity in Wozniacki heading to Flushing Meadow for next week’s U.S. Open tennis showdown just as there was when McIlroy had his father, Gerry present on being handed golf’s U.S. Open trophy at Congressional.

“I’ve always been a person who has always looked forward and never looked back and sometimes when bad things happen or you get injured, and things don’t go your way you have to stay positive,” she said.

“My dad has always supported me and he’s said to me all the time that good things happen to good people

“So I always kept fighting and kept training hard.

“Everything I have dreamed off is coming true, and I’ve got the opportunity to meet all you guys.”

Wozniacki is the daughter of two athletes with both parents born in Poland before moving to Denmark.

Her mother, Anna, represented Poland at volleyball while her father, Piotr played football for Poland.

“I feel Danish, but my parents are from Poland and the rest of the family is in Poland,” she said.

“I have a lot of Polish friends on the tour and we speak Polish and they kid me about being Polish.  I feel part Polish, definitely.”
