Padraig Harrington has flown some 6.500klm from London to Memphis and host city for this week’s FedEx St. Jude Classic to find he’s spending two days on course alongside fellow Irishman and very good friend Shane Lowry.
Harrington touched down Tuesday in the ‘Land of the Delta Blues’ and after having just missed out a day earlier in qualifying for the U.S. Open in a 36-holer at Walton Heath in Surrey.

Shane Lowry has shared the leading honours to brilliantly qualify for next week’s U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills on New York’s Long Island.
Lowry put aside his disappointed of officials moving the Walton Heatlh qualifier back a week and tee-up in suburban Columbus a day after playing all four rounds of The Memorial in nearby Dublin, Ohio.
The Clara golfer will now join Rory McIlroy and Graeme McDowell in what will be Lowry’s sixth U.S. Open and his fifth in succession.

Russell Knox has joined Richie Ramsay in doubling the number of Scots into next week’s U.S. Open.
Some five hours after Ramsay qualified at Walton Heath in Surrey and Knox posted scores of 66 and 71 to share fifth place among the leading 14 at a similar 36-hole qualifier in suburban Columbus, Ohio.
