Damien McGrane Posts Lowest Score In Six Months Thanks To Odyssey ‘Lucky 777’ Putter.
Ireland’s affable Damien McGrane posted his lowest round in six months on day two of the Porsche European Open to boost hopes of retaining his Tour card.
McGrane used his new Odyssey ‘Lucky 777’ putter to good effect taking just 28 putts in a four under par 67 and similar tally to be just outside the top-20 heading to the weekend rounds at the Bad Griesbach Resort course some two hours east of Munich.
It was the Kells golfer’s lowest score since a 66 earlier this year in the Tshwane Open and an effort ...
Scott Jamieson Dealing With Unfamiliar Career Territory.
Scott Jamieson kept in sight of the Porsche European Open leaders as he deals with an unfamiliar Race to Dubai standing.
The Glaswegian was five under par with two holes to play but bogeyed both in a round of 70 on the (Franz) Beckenbaurer course at the Bad Griesbach Resort two hours east of Munich.
Three players – The England’s trio of former Irish Open winner Ross Fisher (65) and Graeme Storm (67) along with South African Charl Schwartzel (66) – share the lead on 10-under par but under a continuing ‘preferred lie’ ruling.
Jamieson arrived lying 103rd on the money list and just inside the top-110 who retain automatic 2016 Tour membership.
However it’s the first occasion in five years since the now 31-year old Scot has been on Tour he’s been faced with this scenario of fighting for his card.
Jamieson was 59th overall in 2011, 53rd in 2012, a career high of 31st in 2013 and 76th overall last year.
However in a career marked by a win and nine other top-10s the best Jamieson has finished this season in 24 events was T11th across the border in Austria.
“It’s been a strange year as I’ve made plenty of cuts but find myself in a different position I haven’t ...
Peter Lawrie Will Remember In Future – Have Clubs Will Travel!
Peter Lawrie will remember to have clubs will travel as he kept alive hopes of regaining his Tour card despite a bizarre Bavarian start to his Porsche European Open campaign at Bad Griesbach.
Lawrie arrived at the Bavarian event on Tuesday purposely without his golf clubs to simply attend a Players Committee meeting later that day, and after having been also turned down just prior to leaving Ireland by sponsor’s Porsche for an invitation.
But in reaching continental Europe’s biggest golfing ...
Richard Green – Twenty Years Competing In Europe But Still Ruing Missed PGA Tour Opportunity.
Richard Green set about celebrating his 20th season competing on the European Tour by putting himself in contention on day one of the Porsche European Open east of Munich.
Green didn’t drop a shot in a six-under par 65 to be one shot from the lead shared by Frenchman Benjamin Herbert and Austrlan star Bernd Wiesberger.
And the owner of two Porsches, including a 996 GTS racing version, felt right at home in a tournament back on the Tour schedule since 2009 and sponsored by the same German car maker.
Green’s ...
Bernd Wiesberger & Benjamin Herbert Share Porsche European Open Driver’s Seat Lead.
Austrian-born Bernd Wiesberger and Frenchman Benjamin Herbert share the lead on seven under par after the opening round of the Porsche European Open at Bad Griesbach in Bavaria, Germany.
Wiesberger, the reigning French Open winner, carded seven birdies in his flawless opening round, including a vital seven foot putt at the 18th to match the clubhouse target of seven under par set by Hebert.
The Austrian started brightly, making gains at the third, eighth and ninth holes to reach the turn in 32.
After ...
