Golden Triangle Veterans Memorial Park, South-East Texas.
On a rare day off from covering golf I grabbed the opportunity to see a little bit more of Texas.
On a glorious Saturday morning I found myself heading east along Texas highway 90 when I came across the Triangle Veterans Memorial Park located less than two hours drive south-east of Houston and just outside the town of Orange in the south-east of the state and not far from the Louisana border.
The memorial park was not hard to miss located right beside the highway and the visit was extremely ...
Rudy’s Restaurant – Savouring A Taste Of Texas
I had the pleasure during this year’s Shell Houston Open to visit Rudy’s Restaurant in northern Houston.
There is plenty of Texas ‘theme’ restaurants scattered all about Houston but there’s none like Rudy’s – it’s Texas to the bone!
And thanks to Art Stricklin (Sports Illustrated) for arranging as he and I along with Bill Nichols (Dallas Morning News) had a good night savouring a real tast of Texas.
As Art suggested: “There’s no fun being ...

Canada’s Stunning Winter Landscape From 10,000 Metres Above.
Most times we take flying for granted especially in an era when it is so accessible to everyone.
However in flying out of London Heathrow and bound for Houston to cover this week’s Shell Houston Open I was asked by Delta Airlines attendant at the check-in desk if I would be willing to forgo travelling London/Atlanta/Houston and instead change my journey London/Minneapolis/Houston.
Of course, the offer of a $US 200 travel voucher was enticing.
During the flight I raised the blind to have a ...
Crown Prince Moulay Rachid Visits Hassan II Trophy Media Centre
His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay Rachid was a surprise visitor today to the Hassan 11 Trophy Media Centre here in Agadir.
Prince Rachid, who is the brother to King Mohammed V1 as well as President of the Hassan II Golf Trophy Association, met with various media representatives.
The Prince was very charming in asking about conditions and what we thought of the state of the golf course compared to last year.
And he just laughed when Bernie brazingly asked the Prince if it was possible to play ...
Travelling With The European Tour To Agadir, Morocco
Thanks to the superb efforts of the European Tour’s, Scott Kelly we joined some 150 players, caddies, family members, media colleagues and officials in travelling on a special charter flight to Agadir and this week’s Hassan II Trophy.
It’s the 39th staging of the event and the third in succession to be a fully-fledged European Tour Race to Dubai tournament.
Royal Air Maroc left Malaga Airport at 7pm Monday and touched down 90 minutes later in Agadir.
And waiting for everyone was ...
St. Patrick’s Day – A Spanish Celebration.
It was a night packed full of fun and frivolity when the international media covering the Andalucian Open headed down to nearby Peurto Banus for dinner on Saturday night.
However the night turned a lot livier when we walked straight into roaring St. Patrick’s Day celebrations.
So what better way to deal with the situation that join in the party.
And as the selection of pics show we all seem to have enjoyed ourselves.
The night started well with a nice dinner down on the port at Peurto ...
