Triple Major winning Ernie Els had delivered Castle Stuart a ringing endorsement ahead of this week’s Barclay’s Scottish Open.
Els, also a former double Barclay’s Scottish Open winner, flew into Inverness on Sunday and went straight out on the much-acclaimed Gil Hanse course.
“I played all 18 holes and didn’t find a bad hole out there, so I’m really looking forward to this week.”

It seemed innocent at the time but Thomas Levet’s French Open victory leap into the water beside the 18th green could cost him a place in next week’s Open Championship.
Levet, who won the French Open for a first time, has pulled out of this week’s Barclay’s Scottish Open after suffering a small fracture to his shin.

2018 Ryder Cup To Boast Grandstands Entire Length of Holes
The 2018 Ryder Cup is set to boast a unique first in any golf tournament.
Pascal Grizot, Chairman of the successful French bid, revealed grandstands will run the full length of four holes at the National course in six years time.
Grandstands will be erected the full length of the first, second and then the 17th and 18th holes.
He said: “It means you will be able to stay in a grandstand to see the drive, the second shot and the putts.”
That will be a total of close to 1,600 yards of grandstand.
