Ailing World No. 1 Rory McIlroy was not the only player frustrated after a third storm stoppage in this year’s Barclays Singapore Open.

Thomas Bjorn transformed into a dashing Dane in recording his best first round score in nine months with a five under par 66 to lead the storm-affected opening day of the Barclays Singapore Open.

The future promotion of the Singapore Open is guaranteed after the Singapore Golf Association (SGA) signed a new five-year deal with the World Sport Group (WSG) to continue marketing the event to the end of 2017.

World No. 1 Rory McIlroy has defended his decision not to contest last week’s WGC – HSBC Champions event at Mission Hills in China.
