Lee Westwood will end a seven-year absence and fellow Englishman Ian Poulter 19-years when they tee-up in next month’s $5m Dunhill Links Championship.
The now 53-year-old Westwood and 50-year-old Poulter join a host of LIV players, and with thanks to sponors Dunhill, set to tee-up in Scotland in the first week of October.
Westwood, who in October 2010 ended Tiger Woods reign as W0rld No. 1 has won 44 times around the world including 25 victories on the DP World Tour and twice on the PGA Tour says he’s looking forward to teeing-up on the trio of host courses – Kingsbarns, Carnoustie and the Old Course at St. Andrews.
Westwood, and currently ranked 347th in the world, will forever be remembered for one of the greatest moments in the history of the Dunhill Links championship, in 2003, when he struck a 4-iron second shot 218-yards at the par five 9th hole at Kingsbarns for an albatross two which set him up for a famous victory.

“It seems a very long time ago now, but it’s still a wonderful memory, and one of the highlights of my career,” he said.
“I’m looking forward to being back at the Dunhill Links for the first time in a while, and it will be fuwn playing the hole again.”
Joining Westwood in the Dunhill Links will be fellow Englishman and LIV star Ian Poulter.
The current World No. 5011th ranked Poulter has not contested a DP World Tour event since sharing sixth place at the 2023 Dubai Desert Classic while he last played in the Dunhill Links way back in 2007.
Westwood and Poulter are eligible to play on the DP World Tour again after paying fines believed to be in excess of $1 million each in June, incurred for playing in LIV events before they resigned their DP World Tour memberships in 2023.
European Ryder Cup star Tommy Fleetwood has confirmed he will be back in St Andrews to compete in the 25th Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in October. Among his challengers will be Major champions Cameron Smithand Bubba Watson who are part of a strong international field.
Already confirmed to play is defending champion Bob MacIntyre, who will be one of a strong group of talented Scottish golfers, including Grant Forrest, Connor Syme, Ewen Ferguson and Calum Hill.
Also in the field is Tyrrell Hatton, bidding for his fourth Dunhill Links title. If he wins it would match the feats of Sir Nick Faldo, who won the PGA Championship on the European Tour four times, Severiano Ballesteros, who won the French Open four times, and Bernhard Langer, who had four victories in the German Masters.
They are joined by Padraig Harrington, twice winner in 2002 and 2006, who has played in every Dunhill Links since its creation in 2001, former US Open winner Matt Fitzpatrick, champion in 2023, his brother Alex Fitzpatrick and Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald.
