It’s been just over a month since Mark Power last teed-up on the famed Old Course and that being the disppointment of losing the 2023 GB & I Walker Cup to the visiting Americans. However, it definitlely not Power’s mood with the Irishman buoyed returning to the Auld Grey Toon now as a rookie professional competing on the DP World Tour. The 23-year-old Kilenny golfer, and despite a penultimate hole bogey, had signed for a two-under-par 70 on the opening day of the $US 5m Alfred Dunhill Links ...

David Drysdale continues to ride a wave of good form birdieing three of his closing six holes in a three-under 69 after day one of the Asian Tour’s International Singapore event. The lone Scot in the $US 2m event over an early round bogey to birdie his ninth, 12th, 14th and final holes in the sauna-like conditions on the Tanah Merah host course. Victorious Celtic Manor winning hero Grame McDowell admits it was a ‘bittersweet experience’ watching TV coverage of last week’s victorious European Ryder Cup triumph in Rome. “It was a little bittersweet, and I would love to have been part of what they were doing but it is what it is right now and hopefully we’ll see if we can figure that out moving forward,” said McDowell ahead of this week’s Asian Tour International Singapore. “But obviously a great ...

No offence to Bob MacIntyre but it was of the one of the great snaps in the lead-up to the 44th Ryder Cup week and that was the photograph taken of the champion Scot in his hotel room decked-out in European Ryder Cup theme pyjamas. MacIntyre, who went on to be undefeated in three matches, is shown wearning hais night attire that come down over his kneecaps while brushing his teeth. The Tweet posted early last week has now generated one million views. It prompted the question to MacIntyre ahead of ...

‘Proud’ and ‘Incredible’ .. Words chosen, the first by Tommy Fleetwod and then Matt Fitzpatrick to describe the experience of last week’s European success at the Ryder Cup. They’re words that would you expect to hear from the champion English duo but to ask them directly ‘To choose one word to describe what unfolded at the 44th Ryder Cup?”, and then to witness both pause for a second or two to provide a reply was, in inself, worth countless number of ...

Victorious Rome vice-captain Thomas Bjorn says it’s the winning players who should decide if they want Luke Donald leading the European Ryder Cup side to Bethpage Park on Long Island. Bjorn found it a nice distraction being congratulated at every turn as he worked on his game yesterday (Tuesday) ahead of this week’s Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in St. Andrews. It was not the same euphoria for Bjorn as four years ago post leading Europe to victory in Versailles but there was no shortage of ...

They may have been unceremonously ruled-out of selections but some of the legends of European Ryder Cup and now LIV stars have sung their praise of Luke Donald’s victorious Roman golfing gladitors. Ireland’s Graeme McDowell, and competing this week on the Asian Tour in Singapore, took to social media and like so many of his LIV and former Ryder Cup colleagues to sound his joy. Massive congrats to @LukeDonald and @RyderCupEurope. Exceptional weekend of golf. Loved the emotion from Luke. Dramatic ...
