For a first time in his PGA Tour career Graeme McDowell will be playing all four events on the ‘Florida Swing’.

However the Northern Irishman, who resides on the Lake Nona Resort Estate two hours north in Orlando, will tee up in this week’s Honda Classic with Texas on his mind.

McDowell is currently ranked 75th in the world and 11 places shy of qualifying for the March 3rd commencing WGC – Dell Match-Play Championship in the Texas capital of Austin.

But then as McDowell rightly points out a strong finish this week along with another solid showing in next week’s WGC – Cadillac Championship should see the former US Open winner qualify for a 10th appearance in the $10m WGC – Dell Match-Play.

“These four weeks I’m playing here in Florida is all about momentum and getting my season started,” he said.

“Of course, I want to qualify for the Match-Play but then a good result this week and next week will take care of that.”

McDowell’s hopes of being among the top-64 in the world to compete in the Texas capital will be helped by three top-10s in succession from 2011 to 2013.

“I’ve had quite a few good finishes here and on a tough course that is a very wind driven course, and conditions I do enjoy,” he said.

“This week, given I live two hours up the road, is nearly a home game for me so that’s a good aspect.

“So of the three events on the Florida Swing I’ve played this and Bay Hill, where I’ve had a couple of seconds, are my favourites.

“And being a Florida boy these are fun events for me.”
