Triple Major winning Padraig Harrington intends travelling next month for a first time to India to tee-up in the Hero India Open in New Delhi.
Organisers of the co-sanctioned European and Asia Tour event have been able entice Harrington to be staged on the Delhi Golf Club from March 17-20.
Pawan Munjal, Chairman, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, Hero MotoCorp Ltd said,
“Indian golf is steadily finding its rightful place in the global golfing community. With the phenomenal success of Anirban Lahiri and others across the globe, golf is rapidly becoming a popular sport among the youngsters in the country, and we are glad to have played the catalyst in this movement. Hero MotoCorp has been associated with golf for more than two decades now, nurturing the game since its nascent days.

“The Hero Indian Open has been co-sanctioned by the European Tour since last year – an acknowledgement of the rising stature of Indian golf in the world arena.
“I have seen Padraig Harrington play at the Majors and am glad the three-time Major winner will be here to play in the Hero Indian Open. I am sure, with his presence, and that of a strong Indian line-up, this year’s edition is going to offer some exciting golf for all the fans,” he added.
Harrington also revealed, and unless his current World Ranking of No. 130 improves, he will be contesting the Barracuda Championship the same week as the WGC – Bridgestone Invitational and the European Tour’s French Open.
This was confirmed when earlier today he was asked by www.golfbytourmiss.com if he was playing either Bridgestone or the French Open, and with Harrington pointing to the logo on his left breast.
“See that?” he said pointing to a Barracuda logo.
“That’s where I will be that week but then if my ranking improves and I qualify, I will be playing the Bridgestone but at this stage I am headed to Nevada.”
And Harrington indicated that he will also tee-up in the July 7th commencing Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open at Castle Stuart just outside Inverness.
“Yes, the Scottish Open is definitely on my schedule and looking forward to going back to Castle Stuart,” he said.
