RODGER’S DODGERS DRAW FIRST BLOOD IN BUSHNELL/ODYSSEY 2015 LISBON CHALLENGE

Peter Rodger and his team is dining out in Cascais on bragging rights after a drama-packed opening day of the 2015 Bushnell/Odyssey Lisbon Challenge.

Peter led his ‘Rodger Dodgers’ team to a 3 & 1 success over ‘Reid’s Raiders’ at the Estoril Golf Club course Portugal.

It was wonderful Spring day with a cloudless sky greeting the 16 Crail Golfing Society members as they made their way from Hotel Baia in Cascais on the Atlantic Ocean shoreline to the Estoril Golf Course.

The Estoril Golf Club boasts a very proud history in Portugal golf having been founded in 1929 and thenplaying host in 1953 to the very first Portuguese Open on the European Tour.

The Crail Golfing Society’s finest members made their way to the first tee around 10.30am with expectations high on the very traditional old style golf course.

Fairmont Resort’s leading green-keeper Craig Bayne got his name onto the prize-givng list in taking out the ‘Longest Drive’ contest down the first hole.

It was then leading East Neuk of Fife electrician John Howorth who got ‘Nearest to the Pin’ at the par three, 4th hole.

Andy Braid stole the honours for ‘Nearest to the Pin’ at the par three 13th and in fact was the only member in the final foursome to find the putting surface off the 13th tee.

And Alastair McMeekim got closest to the pint to win the ‘Hit and Chip’ honours on the final hole.

But in the bigger picture it was the team event that matters most over the coming five days of competition and with Rodger’s Dodgers atop of the board on day one.
