Rory McIlroy Adds Alfred Dunhill Links To His 2014 Schedule.

Double Major winning Rory McIlroy will add the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship to this year’s schedule.

McIlroy will again team-up with his father, Gerry in the event commencing October 2nd and the week immediately following the Ryder Cup.

It will be the first occasion since 2011 McIlroy will contest the ‘celebration of links golf’ when he finished runner-up to fellow Northern Irishman Michael Hoey.

McIlroy has further fond memories of the event having stood at the back of the 18th green in 2007 and remarking at the time:  “If Paul Lawrie misses this putt, that’s my European Tour card”.

Lawrie missed the putt for McIlroy to finish third and be assured full European Tour membership in only his second event after having turned pro a fortnight earlier at the British Masters.

“I’m looking forward to playing the Dunhill again as it’s been a couple of years, and maybe this time my dad will have a higher handicap and we have the chance to take out the team prize,” he said.
