Darren Clarke’s stunning Open Championship success at Royal St. George’s ensured many memorable historic notes.

1.  Clarke is the 12th different winner in the last 12 Major Championships.

2.  He is the sixth-consecutive first-time Major Championship winner.
 
3.  Clarke becomes the oldest Major Championship winner since 43-year-old Ben Crenshaw won the 1995 Masters.
 
4.  He is the oldest player to win his first Major since 44-year-old Roberto de Vicenzo won the 1967 British Open.
 
5.   Clarke wins in his 54th Major appearance (T2 at the 1997 British Open his previous best outing), second most to Tom Kite – who won the 1992 U.S. Open in his 72nd start.
 
6.  Becomes the fourth player from Northern Ireland to win a Major Championship, and the third in the last six events: Rory McIlroy/2011 U.S. Open, Graeme McDowell/2010 U.S. Open, Fred Daly/1947 British Open).
 
7.  Win is the sixth consecutive in a Major by an international player, the longest streak since the first Masters in 1934.
 
8.  Snaps a streak of four consecutive major winners in their 20s: Oosthuizen, Kaymer, Schwartzel and McIlroy.
