The opening day of the 140th Open Championship began at 6.30am with American Jerry Kelly hit the opening tee shot.

It ended at 9.15pm with the three ball of American Jason Knutzon, England’s Andrew Johnson and popular Singapore player Lan Chih-Bing heading to the scorer’s hut.

In between we’ve seen an emotional Thomas Bjorn take to the lead with a 65 and then be joined by sensational England amateur Tom Lewis.
