Florida golfing sensation Brooks Koepka set a new record for the largest victory margin in the 25-year history of the secondary European Challenge Tour in winning by 10 shots the Fred Olsen Challenge on the Canary Islands.
The 25-year old West Palm Beach Gardens golfer won his second Tour victory this season shooting a last round 66 for a 24-under par tally on the on the mountainous Tecina Golf course.
Koepka’s win took him straight to the top of Challenge Tour money list and he now needs to win just one more event before the season’s end to secure automatic 2014 membership on the main European Tour.

“It feels great to break the record for the biggest win on the Challenge Tour and that’s a pretty cool record to have,” said Koepka.
“It was a tough day out there and after giving away a couple of shots early I managed to hole the putts I needed to.
“It’s also great to win again. It’s been a great week, to play at the top of the mountains here in such beautiful surrounds, the place is unbelieveable.”
Kopeka’s 10-shot victory margin beats the previous best shared by Welshman Bradley Dredge (2003 Madeira Islands Open) and Austrian Markus Brier (2004 Austrian Open).
It is his second victory in seven Challenge Tour starts this year after Kopeka captured the Montecchia Open in Padova, Italy by seven shots earlier last month (May).
Kopeka is the second American in three weeks to win on the Challenge Tour after former US Amateur champion, Peter Uhlein broke through for his first Tour pro career win in capturing last fortnight’s Madeira Islands Open.
