The WGC – Cadillac Championship Twill be staged at the Trump International course at Doral up to and including 2023.
The International Federation of PGA Tours indicated today (Frid) it has agreed to an extension of the event that has staged on the Florida course since 2007.
(Comment – I know it’s all about available sponsorship but so much for the events being labelled World Championships and taking them around the world!)

The PGA Tour reports it has been hosting events at Doral since 1962 when Billy Casper took down a field that included Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Gary Player, Sam Snead and Ben Hogan.
More than 50 years later, the best in the world will arrive next fortnight to take on the Blue Monster at the $US 8.75m WGC – Cadillac Championship as the tournament traditionally hosts one of the top fields in golf combining players from the top 50 in the Official World Golf Raking, the FedExCup, the Race to Dubai and other Tour’s Order of Merit standings.
Trump purchased the Doral Golf Resort & Spa in June 2012 and has signed on renowed Pennsylvania designer Gil Hanse to oversee at $US 200m renovation to restore Doral to its former grandeur.
“It is a great honor to have such a long-term extension with the PGA Tour,” said Donald J. Trump.
“They know how great this facility will become. It will be the finest anywhere in the United States.”
Global Cadillac Vice-President, Bob Ferguson responded: “We are pleased to hear that the Trump Organization is committed to the World Golf Championships-Cadillac Championship for the next decade.
“This can only mean the event will continue to improve and thereby continue to grow its charitable footprint in South Florida. The entire team at Cadillac is excited to see the partnership between the PGA TOUR, the Trump Organization and Cadillac take the Cadillac Championship to new levels.”
And the PGA Tour’s Executive Vice-President of Championship Management, David Pillsbury spoke of the work Hanse will undertake in remarking: “The enhancements that the Trump Organization and renowned architect Gil Hanse are making to the resort and the course, combined with Cadillac’s commitment to excellence and a new entertainment and social focus from
our tournament staff have the Cadillac Championship positioned to bectome one of the premier events in the
world.”
