Portugal’s Ricardo Santos continues to impress taking another big leap forward in the 2013 Race to Dubai with his top of board finish following the Omega Dubai Desert Classic.
The Villamoura golfing ace posted a final round 67 for a 15 under par tally to share seventh place and secure his second top-10 result in the three-event Middle East Swing.
After being richley rewarded by being voted 2012 Rookie of the Year Santos has burst onto the 2013 season with the following results:
28th – Volvo Champions, South Africa
4th – Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, Abu Dhabi
22nd – Commercial Bank Qatar Masters and
7th – Omega Dubai Desert Classic.
“I am really happy with my game as I played really solid again today,” he said.
“My putting was a lot more consistent call also today so that is pleasing. To finish top-1o is another good week and that’s something I can take with me to South Africa, so I am delighted.
“I’ve had a good run of form and it’s shame I have not had a victory but I will keep working towards that goal.”
Santos has now earned Euro 195,190 to be riding high in 14th place on the Race to Dubai. A similar effort over his next few week in South Africa could very well see the Portugese player go close to wrapping up his tour for 2014.
However knowing Ricardo, and as he mentioned, he will be focussing hard on adding to his Maderia Islands Open victory.
