Tiger Woods has paid a heavy price for his poor showing on the opening day of the Ryder Cup by being dropped from the second round Foursomes at Medinah.
USA Team captain, Davis Love 111 became the first American captain to axe the 14-time Major Champion from any round of either the Ryder Cup or Presidents Cup.
Woods and partner, Steve Stricker were comfortably beaten in both their matches prompting Love to drop the duo.
While it should come as a surprise to many it must have come as a shock to Woods given he won the 1999 and 2006 PGA Championship on the suburban Chicago course.

Woods and Stricker were first beaten 2 & 1 by the all-England duo or Ian Poulter and Justin Rose.
Then there was the huge embarrassment for the seemingly unbeatable Stars and Stripes pair when Belgium rookie, Nicolas Colsaerts virtually single-handedly defeated Woods and Stricker in the afternoon Fourballs.
However Love was very diplomatic in his decision to drop the former long-time World No. 1.
“We felt we did not need anybody to have to play five matches,” said Love.
“It’s a big, long, tough golf course and we just don’t want guys to be worn out.”
The foursomes see a rematch of the opening game in which Rory McIlroy and Graeme McDowell beat Jim Furyk and Brandt Snedeker on the last, but this time they are in the anchor role.
Colsaerts is rewarded for his staggering eight-birdie and one-eagle display by partnering Sergio Garcia in the foursomes against Jason Dufner and Zach Johnson.
Westwood switches to partner Luke Donald against unbeaten Phil Mickelson and Keegan Bradley, while Rose and Poulter go off first against Webb Simpson and Bubba Watson.
Europe give Paul Lawrie, Peter Hanson, Martin Kaymer and Francesco Molinari a second rest.
Saturday foursomes draw (Times BST, US names first):
1320 – Webb Simpson & Bubba Watson -v- Justin Rose & Ian Poulter
1335 – Keegan Bradley & Phil Mickelson -v- Lee Westwood & Luke Donald
1350 – Jason Dufner & Zach Johnson -v- Nicolas Colsaerts & Sergio Garcia
1405 – Jim Furyk & Brandt Snedeker -v- Rory McIlroy & Graeme McDowell
