Film and singing star, Justin Timberlake got the 39th Ryder Cup Opening Ceremony underway however his introductory remarks about his own golf game and singling out the 7-iron as his favourite club did nothing but bore the socks off Chicago sports fans.
Timberlake then recited a poem simply called ‘Golf’ as the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra played in the background.
Words from the poem included: “Golf is as sweet and passionate as your lover on a warm summer’s night”.
And Timberlake, who will again host his own tournament next week in Las Vegas, continued to recite the poem that included also this line: “Oh this game is never, ever the same each day. It fills our hearts with hope”.
Give me a break!
Finally, Timberlake did something all watching longed for and that was to remark: “Now let me turn you over to someone who knows what he is talking about.”

Justin Timberlake boring the white socks off guests with his introductory remarks at the commencement ot the Opening Ceremony.
There was also the now seemingly endless parade of wives and girlfriends when all anyone wants to see is the players heading out to the golf course, teeing it up and getting on with the damn competition.
If Samuel Ryder had been present at the Opening Ceremony there’s no doubting he would have walked up to the stage to snatch back the Ryder Cup and not doubt muttering to himself: “This had certainly not been my intention in presenting the Ryder Cup for competition.”
