USA Ryder Cup captain, Davis Love 111 has chosen Steve Stricker, Dustin Johnson, Jim Furyk and  Brandt Snedeker as his four ‘wildcard’ picks.

The annoucement was made in New York City with the four joining the eight who qualifiied automatically for the 39th Ryder Cup commencing at Medinah in Chicago on 28th September, 2012.

Love confessed that ahead of making the annoucement he was ‘glad this day has come’

He then read out the picks by first annoucing Dustin Johnson declaring he is ‘the best athlete on the USA Team’.

Next was Furyk saying his experience will be imporant and he’s also one of the most respected players on the PGA Tour.

And the surprise of the picks was Brandt Snedeker who he said was one of the hottest putters on the Tour since the British Open and that Snedeker could be paired with any member of the side.

It meant Love leaving out Hunter Mahan, a player who has won twice on the PGA Tour including defeating World No. 1 Rory McIlroy earlier this year.

Mahan will now have to wait another two years to redeem himself after being the player who historically handed victory to Europe in losing out to Northern Ireland’s Graeme McDowell in the Singles.
