Richie Ramsay – With His Omega European Masters Win.

Scotland’s Richie Ramsay claimed his second Tour victory with his four-shot success in the Omega European Masters.

He posted a final round 66 for a 16-under par tally and the same winning margin and same 72-hole total as fellow Scot had won last week’s Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles.

Lawrie had been looking to win for a third time this year but had to settle for a share of sixth on 11-under par.

However the spoils of success go to the 29-year old Ramsay.

  • * First time Scotland has won consecutive European Tour wins since Andrew Coltart and Colin Montgomerie in 2001
  • * First time also two different Scots have won consecutive Tour events since Andrew Coltart (2001 Great North Open) and Colin Montgomerie (2001 Murphy’s Irish Open).
  • * Is only the second Scot to win the Omega European Masters, following Montgomerie in 1996.
  • * Ramsay wins in his fourth appearance in the Swiss event.
  • * The 130th Scottish victory in European Tour history
  • * The 19th victory by a player aged in his 20s, from the 34 events contested in 2012.
  • *  Earns his largest-ever Tour prize cheque of Euro 350,000
  • *Earns a place in the November 1st commencing WGC- HSBC Champions at Mission Hills in China and a spot in 2013 Volvo Golf Champions.
  • *The 17th occasion this year a player has won after leading through 54 holes
  • Gains a Tour exemption to the end of 2014
  • And should move to a career high of 70th on the World Rankings.
