Fox Returns Keen To Make It Back-To-Back RBC Canadian Open Titles

A year ago, Ryan Fox set the golf world alight capturing two PGA Tour in the space of five Tour events – success in May’s Myrtle Beach Classic and then the RBC Canadian Open.

The then 38-year-old Fox jumped from No. 119 to 71st on the World Rankings and after success in Canada to become World No. 32.

The proud Kiwi has returned to the host TPC Toronto layout as World No. 60 and just as excited of to become the first player since Rory McIlroy four years ago to capture the coveted title back-to-back.

And Fox has returned to TPC Toronto and excited also to see a special reminder plaque of his stunning victory.

Fox outlasted Sam Burns with a birdie on the fourth extra hole after the duo matched 18-under 262 at TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley, a first-year host venue for Canada’s national open. On that fourth playoff hole, Fox striped a 3-wood from 259 yards to 7 feet on the water-guarded par-5 18th – which he later described as the shot of his life – setting up a two-putt birdie to win after Burns lipped out a 7-foot birdie try.

“It’s always great coming back to a course that you’ve got good memories at,” said Fox.

“I love the golf course. I love the fans here last year. They treated me really, really well. I’m just seeing that plaque on 18 for the first time and that brought back a lot of memories that have shot. I still think it’s the best shot I’ve ever hit.

“Yeah, I’ve seen my face in a few different places this week than I would normally and that’s pretty cool.”

As for the current state of his game, Fox has contested 13 this 2026 season with a best finish of T7th in the Genesis Invitational.

Well said, Ryan and best wishes this week.
