After competing the last six months or so in some 10 different non-European countries Scotland’s David Law expressed his immense delight at being back in Europe, and a hopeful success in Barcelona, Spain.
Law drained a closing hole birdie for a second day running in a round of 71 and heads into the weekend rounds sharing fifth place at eight-under and only three shots off the lead in the Estrella Damm Catalunya Championship on the host El Prat course.
The Aberdonian had arrived in Barcelona having missed the cut in last week’s Turkish Airlines Open but rather than hang around in Belek over the weekend, Law jetted home to make full use of his forced days off including spending quality time in discussion with long-time coach Alan McCloskey.

Despite missing all four rounds in Turkey, it was the first weekend at home on the weekend of an event for the affable Scot since last November.
Law said: “Today’s round was obviously a little more boring that yesterday’s effort but tee-to-green I was really good though I didn’t hole that many putts.
“Thought I was happy with that and hopefully I can hole a few more on the weekend.
“Obviously, it’s just great to be back in Europe in general as it’s amazing. It’s been a fairly long spell being absent for some five to six months but it just makes such a difference to all the European guys to just get home even at some time on the weekend even if it may be Sunday night and then back out on Tuesday.
“And the course here is great and yeah, it’s always great to be back here in Spain.“
Richie Ramsay is next best of the Scots signing for a 68 to be just outside the top-30 at four-under.
And Ewen Ferguson struggled having been tied after day one at five-under with Law in posting a second round 76 and tumbling into a share of 43rd at three-under.
Italy’s Stefano Mazzalo and Dane Lucas Bjerregaard each birdied their closing two holes in similar scores of 67 and led the field by a shot at 11-under.
Twenty-two year old South African Yurav Premlall had the chance to make it three tied for the lead having brilliantly moved to 10-under on the back of eight birdies through 17 -holes. He came to his last, the par-5 ninth hole, and was staring at a 10-footer for a round of 63 that would have handed him a share of the lead but it was not to be.
Nonetheless, Premlall is just one back with two rounds to play,
