The game’s No. 1 ranked golfer suprisingly has never before tackled the ‘Blue Monster’ and host venue for this week’s $20m Cadillac Championship.
Yes, Scottie Scheffler is a Trump Doral ‘rookie’ on a course returning to the PGA annual schedule after a decade long absence.
The Florida course venue first hosted the WGC – CA Championship from 2007 to 2010 and then the renamed WGC – Cadillac Championship from 2011 to 2016.

So, what was Scheffler’s first reaction in first setting foot on the course.
“I played the back, no, front nine yesterday and back nine today,“he said.
“Golf course is good. Greens are in good shape. Felt like the rumors about the course were true. It’s long, it’s difficult. Should be a good test this week“
It prompted Scheffler being quizzed as to how does he go about familiarising himself with a ‘never before seen nor played’ golf course.
“A lot of it depends on the course,“ he said.
“My experience on this course is the last two days was all I saw. I tried to go back and watch some stuff, but the golf course has changed a decent amount over time. The greens are bigger than they were a few years ago. Then, when you look back even further, the greens were a different type of grass.
“So when it comes to walking the course, this course in particular is pretty straightforward in a sense of like you can see off the tee box where you need to hit it, it’s just a matter of hitting it there time and time again.
“There’s not really many tricks to this golf course. It’s just very, very difficult. It’s a flat piece of land. There’s just a lot of bunkers, a lot of water and the golf holes are long. So with that combination, it’s going to be tough“.
Scheffler will tee-up on day one with Cameron Young as his playing partner.
