What a super storyline after the Fitptatrick brothers – Matt and Alex – combining to capture the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
The Fitxpatrick’s – Matt at age 31 years and seven months – teamed with ‘baby’ brother Alex – at age 27 years and 3 months – to create a slice of PGA Tour history, and no doubt DP World Tour and other tour’s history, in becoming the first brothers teaming to capture the Zurich Classic team event on the famed alligator-infested TPC Lousiana course.

While it’s always been big brother Matt who’s commanded the golfing news, Alex spoke what is has been like for him growing up in the golfing family, given their parents are also right into golf including mum, Susan teaming with Matt to captured the 2023 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
“Obviously not to get emotional, but we both grew up wanting to be the best golfer we can possibly be and be one of the best players in the world“, said Matt.
“He is one of the best players in the world. I’m biased, I think he’s the best player in the world. It’s just my opinion, even though it’s not — the stats wouldn’t say so.
“Yeah, I’m incredibly appreciative of him, everything that he does for me. There’s just so many little things that I’m sure that he does that I don’t know about that he does for me as well. Yeah, I’m obviously incredibly lucky to have him as my brother.
“I don’t think there’s many people that can say, you know, one of the best players in the world is your brother, but also, just what he does for me. Yeah, just love him to bits. There’s not much more to“.
And a smiling Matt junped-in in adding to his brother’s comments: “I didn’t charge him any rent at my house last week“.
Brilliant victory guys and so well played.
