Eagled two of his last four holes (Nos. 15 and 18), playing the par-5s in 6-under for the day, en route to an opening 7-under 65.
- This is his low 18-hole score at Tiburón Golf Club (13th round).
- Previous low: 67 (2025/R1)
- Note: Carded 65 in the final round of the 2020 Chubb Classic, played at The Classics at Lely Resort.
- Tiburón Golf Club has hosted the Chubb Classic since 2021.
- The 57-year-old seeks his sixth win on PGA TOUR Champions (152nd start).

- This is his second time leading/co-leading after the first round on PGA TOUR Champions (0-for-1).
- Co-led at the 2024 Invited Celebrity Classic (finished T53) – 36-hole event
- Led the field in birdies (9).
- Making his second appearance at the Chubb Classic, he finished T12 in 2025.

- Defending champion Justin Leonard (T3) tallied eight birdies en route to opening with 66. His position-by-round in his last four rounds at the Chubb Classic is T8-1st-Won-T3.
- Ranks T1 in the field in putts per green in regulation (25 on 16)
- Despite a double-bogey on No. 17, 2020 Chubb Classic winner Scott Parel birdied Nos. 11-15 on his way to 6-under 66.
- Ricardo Gonzalez (T3) closed with eagle on No. 18 to shoot 6-under 66. His lone victory on PGA TOUR Champions came in the month of February at the 2024 Trophy Hassan II.
- Rob Labritz (T3) birdied Nos. 11-14 to post 6-under 66 in his 82nd start on PGA TOUR Champions.
- Making his PGA TOUR Champions debut, Naples native George McNeill (T23) birdied his first three holes en route to 2-under 70. McNeill turned 50 years old on October 2, 2025.
- Five-time Chubb Classic champion (2011, 2013, 2016, 2022, 2023) and World Golf Hall-of-Fame member Bernhard Langer (T34) opened with 1-under 71.
He is one win shy of tying the PGA TOUR Champions record for most wins at one event (Hale Irwin earned six wins at the Turtle Bay Championship).

The 2026 Chubb Classic is a three-day, 54-hole, stroke-play competition and is the first domestic event for the 2026 PGA TOUR Champions season.
