Good news as Graeme McDowell is next month proudly returning to contest a US Open for a first time six years.
‘G Mac’, as he is so well known, successfully navigated Monday’s two-round qualifier with two rounds of 69 in Dallas.
It will be a first major for McDowell since his 10-year exemption from winning the US Open ended in 2020.

GolfByTourMiss was present along the Pacific Ocean shoreline when McDowell brilliantly captured the 2010 US Open on Father’s Day at Pebble Beach holding off Frenchman Gregory Havret by a shot but with and Tiger Woods stumbling with a 75 to share third.
G Mac also finished T2nd in the major two years later while he secured a T5th result in the very next major at the 2012 Open Championship.
The now 46-year-old McDowell, who is considering rejoining the DP World Tour with the Irish Open and Ryder Cup in mind, joined the breakaway LIV Golf tour in 2022.
Fellow Northern Irishman Tom McKibbin withdrew from the tournament in Dallas while Sergio Garcia missed out on qualification by two strokes.
American Peter Uihlein topped the Dallas qualifying leaderboard on nine under to secure his first major appearance since 2018, with former Open runner-up Tom Kim a shot further back.
The US Open at Shinnecock Hills, on Long Island in New York, takes place from 18-21 June.
