Rory McIlroy clearly didn’t get the start he sought on day one of the 107th PGA Championship but his status as one of Northern Ireland’s richest has been enhanced by some £35m ($47m) following his historic Grand Slam success last month at Augusta National.
According to the Sunday Times Rich List and as reported in the Belfast Telegraph, McIlroy’s status as Northern Ireland’s richest young person under the age of 40 has been boosted by an additional £35m and thus incresing McIlroy’s wealth to £260m ($346m).
It means that McIlroy is Northern Ireland’s wealthiest under-40 individul and the 19th on the list among the UK’s wealthiest people under 40s of age.

“McIlroy earlier this year became the second golfer after Tiger Woods to have earned in excess of $100m (£75m) on the PGA Tour during his career said Robert Watts, the compiler of The Sunday Times Rich List 2025, said.
“Since launching his career 15 years ago he has chalked up nearly 30 victories from more than 260 events on the tour.
“The bulk of McIlroy’s fortune stems from sponsorship deals and other tie-ups with Nike, Omega and TaylorMade. He has also prospered from property in Dubai, New York and Florida while recent news indicates he has purchased a mansion on the famed Wentworth Estate in Surrey, England.
Though McIlroy’s fortune has him still trailing behind Northern Ireland’s richest person and that is the 77-year-old Mary Haughey Lady Ballyedmond and her family, with a wealth of £922m.
