Ramsay Delights Daughter But Weighs Up His Post Turning 40-Years Options

Six-year-old Olivia Ramsay is the proudest youngster in her Edinburgh school class.

Sitting at home in her bedroom is the gleaming Cazoo Classic victory trophy won by her father last Sunday afternoon at Hillside.

Olivia was just a twinkle in her now 49-year-old father’s eye when he last won on the DP World Tour over seven years ago in far off Morocco.

Ramsay had promised her a trophy a few years back but then close earlier this year only to suffer the bitter disappointment in dunken a ball into the down the last at The Belfry.

Ramsay delights proud daughter Olivia but now weighs up his playing options post turning 40.

Now after last Sunday’s victory at Hillside Olivia is her father’s biggest fan and sometimes a harshest critic, but in a nice six-year-old manner.

Though in edging ever-closer to the big four zero Ramsay’s thoughts are turning to what he does next in his now six-tournament winning career, a career where he’s now won at least once in last three decades.

He said: “Part of me would love to keep playing full-time, but I’m also thinking that’s less time with my wife Angela and Olivia.

“I feel we are happy as a family in Edinburgh. I wouldn’t want to change that for selfish reasons

“But walking down the range here at the Fairmont this morning and getting the congratulations from everyone was really nice.  Getting all the messages from everyone and sharing the win with the people who have always believed in me was special.

“I hadn’t thought about winning in three different decades. I suppose it’s a consequence of me sticking to the same thing, which is ‘What am I going to do today that makes me better?’

“We’re all our own boss out here, so you have to be diligent and consistent in what you do. I feel that’s come across for me in results and on the golf course.

“There are the times when it’s hard, and no-one’s patting you on the back, saying ‘well done’.  That’s when you get the good people around you who support you and believe in you.

“Good things will happen if you do that”.

This week is also special for fellow Scot Grant Forrest, teeing–up as the defending Hero Open champion.

Joining Ramsay and Forrest is 14 other Scots in one of the biggest Tartan turnouts all season
