Jamieson Leads In Spain But What To Do With A 5-Hour Weather Delay? Watch Rangers Win, Of Course.

Scotland’s Scott Jamieson put a near five-hour bad weather warning delay to good use, delighted to watch his beloved Rangers keep their title hopes alive with victory over Motherwell.

Jamieson, and leading by two shots at 11-under, was some 30 minutes away from teeing-off in the last group on day three at the ISPS Handa Spanish Open when the threat of thunderstorms halted play for near-on five hours on the host course at Tarragona to the south of Barcelona.

It wasn’t till close to 5.30pm (local time) the Scot got onto the course only to bogey the first hole and drop back to 10-under but he recovered the shot with a birdie at the third hole to stay one-shot clear of the field, only for play to be again halted at 7pm when at the sixth green.  Players kept their place for some 30 minutes when officials pulled the plug on the day, and Jamieson still one clear .

He said: “It was a nice start to the day to see Rangers win alright, but it was a kind of frustrating day then when you’re starting and stopping like that, but what can you do?

“We’re around the sixth green now after being pulled off. On the first I hit a bad wedge shot and then it was a tough up and down. I hit a good putt but it just didn’t go in. It was pretty solid after that.

“We’re only really halfway through the tournament aren’t we and there’s a little wind forecast tomorrow and I don’t know what it’s going to be like for those 12 or so holes in the morning, so I’ve just got to play the golf that’s in front of me the best that I can and see what it all adds up to.”

Canadian Aaron Cockerill enjoys the clubhouse lead at 10-under after posting a blistering eight-under-par 62 but under a preferred lie rule.

Aberdonian David Law is eight-under through six holes while Bathgate’s Stephen Gallacher signed for a 68 to finish with a three-under tally while Marc Warren also managed to complete his third round with a 72 to be at the tail of the field at level par.
