DeChambeau Keeps The Ryder Cup Trophy But Rose Scores A ‘One-Liner’ Win

Bryson DeChambeau got the keep the gleaming Ryder Cup but it was Justin Rose winning the best ‘one-liner’ prize over DeChambeau and Tony Finau on the second day of official practice at the 2021 Hero World Challenge here at the Albany course in the Bahamas.

DeChambeau had the prized Ryder Cup in his possession and under the guidelins is being allowed to retain the trophy for 10-days as part of the arrangement among the 12 members of the victorious USA Whistling Straits team.

And while DeChambeau was pointing out an item on the trophy to Finnau along came Rose, a member of five European Teams, but who was overlooked for this year’s showdown.

Rose walked-up to the American pair saying:  “Hey Bryson?  What’s that?”

The three began shaking hands and with Rose remarking:  “You guys were lucky, I wasn’t there”.  Rose said: “Good to see you and patted DeChambeau on the back”.

The World No. 7 ranked DeChambeau is teeing-up this week after losing 4 & 3 in last Saturday’s ‘The Match’ at the Wynn Golf Club in Las Vegas and with DeChambeau, who being comprehensively beaten by his arch rival, was proud the encounter earned much for local charities.

“We raised a lot of money for charity and that is the most important thing”, said DeChambeau.  “A lot of people know I was probably going to say that but it was the honest truth.  I mean, I wasn’t going to do the match if it wasn’t for charity. Secondly, it wasn’t my best day and it was a tough golf course.

“I kept volunteering extra shots for charity and that was the whole point as when I was hitting the ball in the ‘long drive’ competition I was giving more money to charity and that’s what I wanted to do.

“There were great charities the PGA Tour is supporting and I would love to play in more of those events.  Again, giving out to charity is a huge deal for me in my life right now.  I’ve done a lot in the game of golf.  Well, at least I think I’ve done but it’s my duty to give back”,
