MacIntyre Onwards To Ohio After Idaho Cut As Laird & Knox End Season In Garden State.

Top-ranked Scot Robert MacIntyre is headed to Columbus, Ohio for this week’s ‘Take 2’ in his goal to earn a 2021/22 PGA Tour card.

MacIntyre was cut from this week’s Boise Open in Idaho with scores of 74 and 67 and falling two shots shy in earning a pay cheque in the first of three remaining events on the secondary Korn Ferry Tour.

The top-25 money-earners over the three events, and ending on September 5 with the Korn Ferry Tour Championship in Indiana, will be handed full PGA Tour membership.

Robert MacIntytre moving onto to Ohio in his goal to earn 2021/22 PGA Tour membership after missing Boise Open cut.

MacIntyre was on the backfoot after Thursday’s opener lying T125th in the Boise field and despite a second day eagle ‘2’ and three birdies, the Oban lefty stalled with a string of six closing pars.

It does mean he’s now needing very strong finishes in both the Ohio and Indiana events if the Scot is to earn full membership for next month’s start to the 2021/22 PGA Tour season.

And fellow Scots Martin Laird and Russell Knox ended their 2020/21 PGA Tour season by missing the cut at the Northern Trust, and the first of the three Play-Off Series events in New Jersey.

Laird signed for a second round 69 for a level par tally to fall one shot shy of making the halfway cut at Liberty National and was projected at tournament end to finish the year 75th on the money list, and five places shy of qualifying for this coming week’s BMW Championship in Baltimore.

Knox posted a day two 72 to also finish at level par that will see him drop possibly five spots to end his year 111th on the money list.

He was one-under for his round and inside the cut with three holes to play but put his second shot at 16 into water in  taking a very hurtful double-bogey.
