McIlroy Leads Six Of World’s Top-10 Heading To Lone Star State.

World No. 1 Rory McIlroy will be among six of the world’s leading top-10 players heading to a PGA Tour return to competition next month at the Charles Schwab Challenge in Texas.

McIlroy will be making his Tour debut in the $US 7.5m event to be played over the famed Colonial club in Fort Worth.

And joining the game’s best will be:-

  • World No. 3 Brooks Koepka
  • World No. 5 Dustin Johnson
  • World No. 7 Patrick Reed
  • World No. 9 Webb Simpson and
  • World No. 10 Tommy Fleetwood

“I just want to get back out and play. So right now, I’m planning to play the first three events … and then see where we go from there,” said McIlroy.

What a change a year makes and what a change in playing priorities since the Tour went into lockdown mode of 12th March.

A year ago, just five of the then world’s top-10 made the trip to Fort Worth while another five inside the top-20 in the world.

And in the final round Charles Schwab wash-up there was just one of those in world’s to-20, and Tony Finau and then the World No. 13, who manageed to finish the Texas event inside the top-50.

Finau was runner-up but a distant four shots behind Kevin Na.
