Two Corona’s .. Wiesberger Revealing That’s All It Took To Get Over Race To Dubai Let Down

Abu Dhabi, UAE … “Two Corona’s”  That was Bernd Wiesberger’s answer when asked how long did it take him to get over the disappointment of now ending the 2019 European Tour seaon as No. 1.

The affable Austrian regained the Race to Dubai lead from Open Champion, Shane Lowry towards the end of last year’s season only to have Spaniard Jon Rahm capture the year-ending DP World Tour Championship and in the process claim the No. 1 title.

England’s Tommy Fleetwood finished second in the DP World to end the year as European No. 2 and with Wiesberger bumped back to No. 3.

Wiesberger was asked about the outcome of last year’s Race to Dubai ahead of today’s final round of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship where he shares second place at 13-under par and just one shot behind 46-year old Englishman Lee Westwood.

First question to Wiesberger was how long did it take to get over the disappointment and his reply was priceless.

“Maybe just two Corona’s,” he said.

“As I have said before as an athlete you try and win and try and perform at the highest level, and get that trophy under your better.

It was disappointing not to win the No.1 title but looking back on the whole season and where I started, I was very proud of what I achieved in finishing third, so any pain was very short-lived.

“My motivation is always high and I always try to be as well-prepared and as ready as possible when I peg it up”.

Well said Bernd and wishing you an even better 2020 season.
