Knox Out Make-Up For Shanghai Miss With Scot Two Off The Lead In Bermuda.

Russell Knox looks set to make amends in not qualifying for this week’s leading Tour event in China by getting himself into contention at the inaugural Bermuda Championship.

Knox added a second round 69 to his blistering opener of 64 to move to nine-under par and just two shots behind the leading American trio of Harry Higgs (65), Brendan Todd (63) and Scottie Scheffler (69) who head the field at 11-under par of the Royal Blue course in Southampton.

The Scot is the only non-North American (NOT USA as there is one Canadian) in the top-16.

Russell Knox just two shots off the lead in the Bermuda Championship

Knox broke through four years ago to win a first PGA Tour event at the 2015 WGC – HSBC Champions and has since won a second Tour title along with the 2018 Irish Open on the European Tour.

However, Knox is not eligible to compete as a past winner of the Shanghai event, and in also not qualifying for the European Tour up-coming ‘Final Series’ he’s chosen to compete in Bermuda.

The Scot’s second round was capped with four birdies in six holes mid-round but taking the gloss of Knox’s display was finishing bogey, birdie, bogey and par.

A win in Bermuda would see Knox jump some 30 places to 67th on the World Rankings, and depending on the efforts of Bob MacIntyre in Shanghai, Knox could move back to the Home of Golf nation’s top-ranked player.
