TPC Boston, MA …

Defending TPC Boston champion, Justin Thomas is concerned there is ‘enough in the tank’ ahead of the American making his Ryder Cup later next month in France.

Thomas was confirmed for a first USA team cap in finishing third among the leading eight automatic qualifiers following his recent defence of the PGA Championship.

Thomas, 25 was never out of the top eight on the points table since late last year in capturing the CJ Cup @ Nine Bridges event and went about cementing his place with victory in the Honda Classic and then a third success this 2017/18 season in winning the WGC – Bridgestone Invitational.

The Florida golfer tees-up in Friday’s starting Dell Technologies Championship as both as No. 3 in the world and No. 3 on the FedEx Cup standings, and determined to be heading to Versailles as both the World and PGA Tour No. 1.

It’s why he he says he’s been trying to pace himself so as to be fully prespared ahead of the September 28th starting showdown against Europe.

“It’s been tough knowing how to pace yourself,” he said.

“I haven’t asked a lot of guys what they’ve done in terms of Ryder Cup.  Last year playing in the Presidents Cup it is tough.

“I very vividly remember last year being that Saturday afternoon with Daniel Berger, and just not really having much in the tank and being pretty out of it.

“But the thing about those tournaments is you have so much adrenaline and you have so much built up and so excited and amped-up to play that you kind of forget how you feel.

“Your body almost becomes numb to a sorts, if you want to say.  So, I think once you get there you kind of forget how you feel.

“But that being said, these playoffs are also extremely important and have a lot on the line.  So, we’re trying to keep our bodies rested for each and every week we play.

“Also, it’s great, anytime you can come to a place that you’ve not only won, but to defend your title it’s fun.”
